How did my uncle did it?

This is an inspiring story of my uncle who managed to turn a messed up department in a hospital into a well organized and the best department.

My uncle was transferred to that hospital because they are lacking of oncologist there. And as the only specialist in his department, he became the head of the department.

Seeing that everyone in his department is messed up with all of the government bureaucracy and heavy workload, he knew that something need to be done. All of the nurses were in bad mood, the doctors were burden with endless patients and the patrons weren't happy. It is all a connected mess.

The first thing that my uncle did is limiting the appointments to only 60 per day instead of 100 and more before. Each new appointments will be brought forward if the quota is full. By doing these, doctors are able to finish their clinical time by noon and able to do other responsibilities and taking some break. Nurses are feeling the same.

Next, he create a pantry that provides food and drinks so the staff don't need to get out and waste their time outside finding parking and wasting time on the journey to find food elsewhere. This has decrease the staff break time and increase their performance in the department

Other than that, my uncle is the first to come to work and the last to go back home. As the head of the department, he is supposed to make the round at the ward and make sure everything is in their places. The rules of this round is nobody gets home until my uncle did it. What my uncle did is he did the round late in the evening, about 5 pm. The reason? To eliminate the the culture of Malaysian government servants who punch in late and punching out early. some time later, everybody is finishing all of their works at the office.

The most important thing that he did is keeping and letting go the right person. It is a well known fact that his department is lacking of staff. but this one particular person is not performing well in the department. She had her own problem, and she keep on skipping work and taking leave. She had ask to be transferred for so many times, yet never approved because of the lacking of staff reason. But when my uncle see this, he approved her transfer and let her go off the department. After, what can a staff on leave contribute to the department?

These are the few changes that he did that totally turn the hospital ambiance. The doctors are happy, the nurses are happy, and most importantly the patients are happy.

I hope we all can learn from him and become better and better everyday.

Madam A is one of my father's colleague.
I can describe her as very friendly, talkative, caring and sincere.
Last 2 weeks, we went to visit her.
She had a surgery. A successful one.
She is in recovery and staying at her home in Seremban.
Her hospitality is very good.
I would say it is very rare for me to meet people like her.
She is very detail and conscious when it comes to serving her guest.
We arrive at her house late in the evening.
Even though my father decline for a long stay, she made us have coffee with her.
What touch my heart is, how she treat her maid.
Her maid is not very clever.
But, she is very patience with her.
The goal is to make her learn how to do things.
You would not have that much patience when dealings with the maid.
She can hardly do anything right.

most of the time, we always ask, "what i get back in return".
my point is, why can't we do something without asking something for return?
we keep on taking but how much we have given?

we must remember, sincerity is the key to happiness.

being sincere does not mean you get nothing back at all. being sincere mean your willingness to help without asking why should i help. once you make a good deed, there is a happiness, a good feeling that reliefs your self. this show how our innerself likes to help and giving.

taking others people rights wont make us feel happy. our innerself always feels the guilt and not happy. in the end, we put ourself into a very stressful situation that will eventually bring us down...

A sailor story

recently i met a friends, who is about to be a marine engineer. he is still studying, but already sailing around malaysia.

one of his story that interest me is about his experiences when he is newly admitted to the academy. one of his job is to check the engine room. once, his supervisor told him to enter the engine room, and look for 4 colored wires and tell him what colors they are. unfortunately, when he enters the room, all he can see are black wires. he went outside to meet his supervisor.

"what colors are they?"
"black, sir"
"are you stupid?" and a punch strike his stomach.
"go back in there!"

while containing his pain, he reenters the room and checked the wires again. now he realize that the wires are coverd with dust and dirt that makes it look black. after wiping the wires, he can see the color of the wires.

and he has learned a hard lesson.

Islam has put a very strict rule and procedure when killing.
We can kill an animal when we want to eat by slaughtering it on its throat, cutting the two breathing vanes [trachea and aesophagus] of the animal completely in the name of allah.
There is also types of animals that can be slaughtered to be eaten. Porks are forbidden, and other animals such as carnivores. Cows, Goat, chicken and other livestocks are those that can be slaughtered.

Meet Uncle Rosly

ehehe.. this is not a new indie band... juz sharing some inspiring story...

since he is small, uncle Rosly live in a peacefull village. when he grow up, he was accepted to a high school. for your information, back in the 60s, all high schools medium of communication are english. but uncle rosly dont know how to speak english. the only english he know is THANK YOU...

at high school, there is a field of grass which has a sign "keep off the grass", not knowing the meaning of that sign, uncle rosly cross the field innocently. them the prefects arrest him. he was questioned in english. in his blurred situation, a friend told the prefects that he does not understand english at all. so he is saved.

this incident encourage him to learn english harder. each day, he read at least 1 book written by Enid Blyton. he uses the dictionary most of the time. after all the hardwork, he can understand english.

now, all of his hardwork had made him a succesful person. he was an engineer and now teaching children mathemathics, in english of course!

after i do this, then what?

people always regret about their action, because they did not think thoroughly of their action.

for example, u want something. let say, a pair of new shoes. so you have decided which one you want. but you don't decide why you want it. you buy it, then what? you will regret it because it doesnt fit your lifestyle, u can hardly use it, and the money u used should be spent on somethings else more important.

they do think about something to overcome their existing problem... but they forget to think of it consequences... and most of the time, it is regrettable later...

and in my opinion that is why some people end up as criminal...

my friend is a very detailed person, he always thought of what happen if one action is taken. he will come up with lots of possibilities. and it always lead to a better solution. he is a total contradict of who am i. i take things simpler. i thought of a plan and hope it might work. well, most of the time, they are not.

so, this question is a method to avoid you from making bad decisions that you will regret for your whole life.

one thing that i like about mike is his thought. he thinks critically and knows a lot of thing. he has many resources.

this evening, i have a chat with him.
about the recession.

mike: about 10 thousands of people lost their job today... those who work as labor at the factory in penang. a bank manager told me. even the banking system is about to VSS, volunteer supression scheme to their employees.
me: so whats the problem?
mike: im worried that criminals rate will increase. people have no jobs, so how they are going to live? even the police wont do anything about it. it doesnt matter if we, the business man, made only 100 or 200 bucks a day, but the matter is, our safety is at cost you know. what would happen if someone kill us while robbing our shops?

do you understand?
when people have no job, they are tend to become violence. remember "fun with dick and jane" ? that is what would happen.

finally, my final project is over. it is a success! there is some flaws, but overall it is a success. i am sure it will get merit or distinction. it all depends on my report now. so lets have an overview of my final project.

the project is called Amphibious Bicycle. it is a group project consist of 5 person. the idea is proposed by Naim. our Project Manager is Dani. other team members are Rina, Sue and me. we started with the design 8 months ago. the fabrication started 2 months ago. the project is a success ad the bicycle floats and moves on water.

the most crucial part of myself during this time is, knowing my purpose. like other teenagers out there, me myself always asked y am i here? what is our purpose on this earth. some simply give a general answer such as we are the ruler of the world, we were born to bring peace to this world or maybe answer such as your mom and dad make out, and suddenly there is you. these answer wont satisfy me... and i bet it does not satisfy any of us who is asking this question kind of question. and out of that dissatisfaction, i come out with a solution. before i cant find my purpose here, i need to understand myself first. who am i? how do i behave now? how do i think? this is my first step of understanding myself. and this could be your solution too. this is much more easier if you have a counselor to help, but i study from the internet, searching for information and got lost a lot. however, it is a new experience as i never thought of understanding human before. understanding myself will include not only physical measures, but also mental and psychology measure. physically we can see our body, but to understand what is going inside the body, a lot of work is needed to be done.

if someone asked me what is our purpose here, my simple answer would be understand yourself, and you might find the answer.

i am a fan of need for speed, since underground. and my favourite, (like other fans of Need for Speed i know) is Need for Speed Most Wanted. we like the stories, we like the cars, we like the gameplay. and we love it because they are putting that back in Undercover. we expect the best of Undercover. with real action movie clips, and extreme graphic, im sure this latest series can keep up with it predecessor.

im looking forward to play this game next week or next month. this week? exam week! next week, racing week!

why the government introduce the MNP (Mobile Number Portability)? For what purpose?

one explanation that i get from my uncle who is working at Jaring is this:

all the numbers existed in Malaysia are fully booked. (booked not used. booked means they might have turn it into prepaid sim card or save it for further postpaid customer) there is no more number left (i assume it is from 0121111111 to 0199999999). so to overcome this problem they decide that the number existed can be switch between the operators(or telcos). so no need for new number. you got to keep your old number and change your telco. this way the number existed will no longer being wasted. you got it??? no more wastage of numbers.

i asked how about adding 1 more number (making it become 11 number in total). and the answer is...
you got a lot of work to do with it. adding 1 number requires a whole system changes (might consumes more time and more money)

i guess the government is making a rite decision. our telco users doesn't exceed 70 millions yet... (as our country have only 27 millions of people living in and only 24 millions of phone numbers are subscribed to telcos) there is no need of adding another number in the existing numbers.

ps: visit our government websites sometime. you might be amazed by the facts and figures. (i do!!)

1.O’lynn skin lightening cream for containing Tretinoin
2.Langsing Alami slimming products for containing Sibutramine

these are some of the prohibited product in the market. it might come in cheap, fast effect and works but it comes with a side effect, which is considered fatal by the ministry. Tretinoin might just get you a skin irritation but Sibutramine, you could end up in grave because of high blood pressure or heart failure.

a friend, a card and a printer

a friend is in trouble.
he needs a card to send to his lover.
and here comes my newly bought printer to save the day :p

the main issue here is, i finally bought a new printer. it is a HP deskjet D2560.
this is the first time a bought a HP printer. setting the printer is not a problem.
it is so easy if you can follow the simple instruction given. that is what i like a bout HP products. it is easy. out of eagerness, I printed out the card that is designed by my friend, without checking my setting first. i was disappointed by the result. it didnt print well. so after wasting about 10 pages, i decided to check back on the HP cd that is given with the printer. and there it is! walla! it is not finish yet... i have to install some more software so that my computer can synchronize with the printer. and the print went well. SUPERB QUALITY!

and my friend was happy to have such beautiful card printed out from my amazing printer :p

moral of the story: make sure u have install everything before using an HP product :p

End of Month

it is the second days before this months end.
and this indicates that were are about to reach new year in 2 months time,
and ill be having my exam in next month, and im in hell of submitting assignments.
the good part is MARA pocket money is already out. :p
ah what a relieve.

economy crisis: are you prepared?

as we see today,
the crude oil price is decreasing,
the stock market is falling,
increase of goods price,
it is all the sign.
economy crisis.
global economy crisis to be exact.

our deputy PM, has a plan for us all to avoid the crisis.
but he havent told us yet. maybe in a few days later.
whatever it is, it might have to do with our daily basis.
the way we spend, the way we save, the way we use, petrol, electricity, water etc.

im afraid after i graduate, it is hard to find a job. because i will finish my diploma study next year. thus, during that hard time, with most of the people with job lost theirs, is there any chance for me to get a job?

unpredictable situation.
i might get a job because my salary would be in lower rate (im a diploma graduate).
i might not get a job because there is no more job left.

maybe it is a good time to get a better education. means, pursuing in degree.
but then, without money, how is that possible?

Subprime & the collapse of economic giants

the 1st time i've heard about it, i have no idea.
but, it caught my attention.
i become interested in understanding subprime.
subprime

ideas about subprime:
subprime is about loan.
subprime is practised in most constitution where money matters. (banks for example)subprime is the main reason for economic collapse in US of A right now.

lets get to the main idea of subprime.
this definition is from investpedia.
subprime loan is : A type of loan that is offered at a rate above prime to individuals who do not qualify for prime rate loans. Quite often, subprime borrowers are often turned away from traditional lenders because of their low credit ratings or other factors that suggest that they have a reasonable chance of defaulting on the debt repayment.

what causes the flaw in this system?
the "high risk loans" hell (unpaid debts or non performing loan.)

high risk loans means loan was given to individuals whose credit generally is not good enough.

lets have an example.

mr.A bought a house for 100000 dollar. he borrowed from a bank a 100% loan with 2% interest for the next 20 years. after a certain time, another banks offer him to extend the loan for 20 years more with interest rate of 5%. he accepts the offer. but for certain reason, he failed to finish his debt in 40 years, so the bank have taken the house as mortgage. because of the condition of the house, the bank couldn't sell the house. the money cant be liquidized.

because there are too many of situation that is similar to this, the money flow is interupted. company is facing with debts.

this example is not the only reason for the system collapse. other causes that contribute to the financial crisis are including speculation, mortgage fraud and inaccurate credit rating.

watch out for econamy crisis during year 2009.

hari raya : the next episode

Malaysian have many explaination about hari raya.

-new clothes, house, furniture, car etc.

but what are the true meaning of HARI RAYA?

today is the 8th day of syawal... thats mean we have celebrated hari raya for 8 days now.
for some people.... the 8th day is the starting of their Hari Raya celebration... because they fast for 6 more days starting from the 2nd of syawal (as we know muslims are forbided to fast on the 1st of syawal) these people will start going out and visit their family from the 8th of raya onwards.....
Selamat Hari Raya to these people!

During hari raya, the most significant thing to children is duit raya. Duit raya is like giving some money as gift or sedekah to the litlle children. i dont know how this tradition started where or when. but as far as i remember, my parents, uncles, aunts are using duit raya as encouragement for us to fast when we were small. but this tradition have its own flaws...... the greed and the misspending.

the greed, the children wont stop searching for Duit Raya. some of them juz forget the values of Hari Raya. In their mind is Hari Raya + visit neighbours = more pocket money. this kind of mindset should be avoided as it promotes to bad attitudes, such as choosing only to visit only the big houses and forget about the poors. it as ruins the meaning of hari raya.

the misspending. whenever the children get their hands on their money, they spend recklessly. as children, the dont have their own money. but hari raya gives them that oppurtinity. the problems is, misspending. buying firecrackes, junk foods, toys and other unnecessary things.

these two flaws can be avoided, if the parents plays their role. as parents, the should explain about hari raya. also they need to supervise their children spending. the better ways is encouraging them to save he money, teaching them about money savings and the benefit of savings money.

mentor is someone who can lead us, can teach us about something we dont know. mentor is important as they help us.

mentor could be anyone, our dad, our neighbour, our school teacher even our friends can be our mentor. mentor is crucial especially as we grow up. we have a lots of things that we dont know and our mentor can help us. whether you to excel in your study, your business or your life mentor can come in handy.

so who do you trust to become your mentor?

Ramadhan: more than fasting

fasting is the obligation during ramadhan.
but there is more in ramadhan than fasting itself.
in ramadhan, is the chance for the Muslims to repent their self, myself.
this is the month where ALLAH blessing is the most. each good deed are favored with multiple blessings. this is the only month with such gift.
and the most valuable gift in ramadhan is lailatul qadar. it was told in the holy AL QURAN as the night that is better than a thousand month. this is the chance for Muslims to gain more blessing from ALLAH.
for those who use ramadhan wisely, will benefit so much.
i hope i can meet the next ramadhan...

the imperfect human

today i went to analytical method for engineer class.
i havent pass this after taking 2 times in the previous semester because i didnt attend the class.......

orite enuf with the introduction......

the really stories is.. in that class, my lecterur ask, have u ever met a person that answers these kind of question juz after he saw it?
and we said no....
becoz none of us can solve the algebra that fast......
and he try to impress us with students from MIT.....
he said that student in MIT can...
he also told that the entry exam for MIT is tough.. not the question is too complex but you wont have enuf time to finish the exams questions.

even tough that kind of person exist.... they r still not that perfect.
human r full of weaknesses.
but here is one thing to keep in mind....
the difference between ordinary people and extraordinary people is.... ordinary people have more weaknesses than the extraordinary.....

so would you overcome your weaknesses? your r about to become extraordinary person. congratulation. but still, u r imperfect.

but it is not my first blog. i cant remember my first blog because i already lost that account.

i wanted to create a blog to share my stories a long time ago.. but there is always something restraining me from doing so. and to day i got an idea for the blog name, so i juz type it and here is the blog, post-a-lot.
